Arctype ® is proud to re-engineer traditional photographic processes to turn your digital moments into Tintypes, XIX-century premium art pieces that last generations.
The wet collodion process, used to create Tintypes, was the predominant form of photographic printing in the XIX century. It involved pouring Silver Nitrate onto a thin sheet of black Aluminum coated with a special emulsion (collodion), and then exposing the sheet whilst still wet.
As an independent Swiss art studio, we are dedicated to involving you in every step of the creation of your premium art pieces with a unique photographic aesthetic.
We combine digital technology and traditional photographic processes with museum-grade and sustainable materials to create unique and lasting art pieces.
Arctype ® studio offers Custom Collections and Limited Collections. Each piece of artwork is unique and it can’t be duplicated.
All artworks are carefully framed with custom frames, safely packed and shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Each component of our sustainable packaging is designed to protect your artwork and minimize our footprint on the environment.
We are proud to partner with organizations that care for human health and the future of the planet.
Arantxa Cedillo is the master artisan behind Arctype.
Besides her practice as a photographer, she has realized a body of work as an art curator, book collaborator, and public speaker over the last two decades.
Arantxa discovered the beauty of the tintype process back in 2017, and has worked persistently ever since to master the digital conversion required to make fine traditional Tintypes. The skills involved make Arctype unique.
